Web Analytics Demystified

I just got a copy of Web Analytics Demystified by Eric Peterson. I haven’t read it yet and in all honesty it is unlikely that I will ever read the whole thing, but it got me thinking. It seems like when dealing with web analytics people tend to approach it from a poverty mentality. What I mean is that people want as many reports and features as possible, but rarely do people think about which reports make sense. Realistically, someone is only going to be able to digest so much information at once. I wonder why so many people feel the need to grab for all of it at the beginning.

And just in case you were wondering, yes I am tracking you. just view source and scroll all the way to the bottom and you will see my little google analytics code. (I guess that’s what passes for a privacy policy around here)
